| The breeding stock at TREBORWOLF kennel
consist of the very finest wirehair specimens, selected from the best Drahthaars
that Europe had to offer. A rigorous breeding program was conducted during
the early 1970's. Inbreeding with strict culling was performed in order
to discover and eliminate any weak genes. After eliminating all the obviously
inferior individuals, much emphasis was placed upon a breeding program,
which stressed the importance of homozygous dominant genes. Since the early
1980's, the TREBORWOLF breeding program has
focused it's attention on "line-breeding" special individuals, who possessed
exceptional inherited natural abilities. Special emphasis was placed upon
personality, pointing instinct, and retrieving ability. After more than
a quarter of a century of such focused breeding, the name TREBORWOLF
is analogous with dogs which are known for their intelligence, beautiful
personality, and intense hunting ability. In addition, the kennel is known
for Wirehairs with an above average longevity (12-18 years) and usefulness
in the field. The TREBORWOLF strain of Drahthaar
is known for dogs which are friendly, and non-combative.
